We're being told we'll arrive at work feeling more positive if we swap our car commute for something more active.
There is a push this week to get us trying a change to our daily routine.
Better Journeys Week (18-22 May) encourages people across Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man to rethink how they travel to work or school.
The theme for 2026 is ‘Don’t just commute: CONNECT!' - suggesting we see our community as a chance to engage more meaningfully with our surroundings and our community.
Organisers want us to try a new mode of transport this week - walking with friends, cycling, public transport or even scooting or skipping.
They say that avoiding the stress of traffic and parking and choosing a more active commute supports physical and mental health and could mean we arrive at our destination feeling more positive.
Rollo de Sausmarez from the project told us:
" It has incredible health benefits.
"What you find is that people also do better work if they have had a more active start to the day.
"You're not just sitting in a box. You are experiencing the beautiful place we live in, connecting with it and connecting with others."
Jen Watson, Head of Responsible Business at Mourant which sponsors Better Journeys Week said:
"Commuting is something most of us do without really thinking about it - it’s just part of the routine.
"What’s great about Better Journeys Week is that it encourages people to pause and see that time differently.
"Whether it’s getting some fresh air, clearing your head or simply slowing down, those everyday journeys can actually become something to look forward to.’
