Blooming lovely: Flowers take over town

Blooming bouquets of bright bunches of flowers are popping up all around town.

Parish floats aren't alone in fighting it out for floral glory this year - the high street has got in on the action too.

It's part of the Battle of Flowers celebrations in the run up to the main event in August.

16 shops and business in St Helier have put up displays and we can vote for our favourite.

The 'Town Takeover' has been partly subsidised by the government to encourage retailers and restaurateurs join the summer festivities and to  revitalise the town centre during the peak visitor season.

£39,000 was distributed to those that applied to the Creative Island Partnership.

The displays have been provided by local florists using sustainable materials.

Each one is paired with a float taking part in the parades on 8 & 9 August, and elements from those floats will be added after the Battle of Flowers.

They'll be on show until 12 September

The businesses taking part are:

De Gruchy

Harriet & Rose

Rivoli

Jersey Skin

Santander Work Café

Broadlands

Fine & Country

Amelie
