Blue and Yellow 'Kason's Day' in memory of 5-year-old with a love of minions

Islanders are being asked to wear blue and yellow on Friday (17 October) to raise money in memory of five-year-old Kason.

The fundraiser marks the one-year anniversary of the death of Kason Le Flahec.

Kason, who was autistic and non-verbal, was a pupil at Mont a L’Abbe School and attended Centrepoint in the school holidays.

Proceeds raised on ‘Kason’s Day’ will go to them and to Autism Jersey.

The family are letting off balloons from La Mare Slip at 2pm on Friday, where there will be a minion mascot.

Islanders are then invited to the Shipwright Pub in St Helier to celebrate Kason’s life, where there will be food and a raffle.

Attendees are encouraged to donate in his honour.

Fort Regent will also be lit yellow and blue all weekend.

Kason's mum Ellie says she wants to keep his memory alive for her and his brother Jakob:

"He loved all the minion films.  Whenever the song 'Happy' came on from the films, he'd be dancing.

"He gave the best cuddles and kisses, and he had the most infectious, cheeky little laugh.

"He was the most precious, loving little boy."

You can donate to the fundraiser here.
