Bubbletecture opens on Jersey's Esplanade

Dazzling giant bubbles have taken over a patch of grass at the Jersey International Finance Centre.

We can revel in rainbow reflections in St Helier for the next fortnight, in the latest ArtHouse Jersey exhibition.

The giant iridescent orbs have taken over part of the International Finance Centre until 14 September, so those wanting to see it have a little over two weeks to check them out.

The installation, which is called Bubbletecture and was designed by Sydney-based artists Atelier Sisu, is free to visit around the clock so visitors can see how the artwork scatters light throughout the day.

The exhibition is described as an immersive experience, with its own soundtrack and lighting effects between 9.30am and 9.30pm.

Tom Dingle, Director of ArtHouse Jersey, says Bubbletecture is about wonder, joy and togetherness.

"We’ve chosen it precisely for its accessible nature, its sense of fun, and its power to brighten our shared spaces."

There will also be free cultural and wellbeing events each weekend:

  • Live performances from Jersey’s national ballet company, Ballet d’Jerri, with brand new choreography by internationally acclaimed Jamaal Burkmar,
  • Yoga sessions for all levels with The Island Yoga Project,
  • Music performances from Jersey-born opera singer Georgia Mae Bishop, Jersey Ukulele Club and more,
  • Children’s entertainment, including giant bubble play hosted by Kydd de la Mare and craft activities from The Stoodio,
  • DJ sets from local artists, including Ben Newman, and the return of JDC’s much-loved Hola Friday! sessions.

Details of dates of times for the weekend sessions can be found here.

Lee Henry, CEO of Jersey Development Company, says they are pleased to be partnering with ArtHouse Jersey to temporarily transform the IFC2 site into a dynamic public space.

"Bubbletecture offers more than just an architectural installation — it brings a creative energy to the heart of town and invites islanders to re-engage with a familiar area in a fresh and imaginative way.

"This project — albeit temporary — reflects our ongoing commitment to thoughtful placemaking and the integration of culture within Jersey’s evolving urban landscape."
