The Safe Places Scheme is creating a network of safe, welcoming locations across the island.
The initiative aims to build a safer, more inclusive community by creating a network of welcoming locations across the island for anyone feeling vulnerable, intimidated, or at risk.
From banks and cafés to Parish Halls and sports clubs, businesses and organisations across Jersey are invited to register as ‘Safe Places’, offering refuge and support to those in need.
Trained staff at registered places will provide the necessary support, whether that involves contacting a trusted person, calling emergency services, or arranging transportation.
Islanders will be able to find a registered business or organisation as the ‘Safe Place’ will display a distinctive window sticker and be listed on the Safe Places app and website.
The Safe Places app, available on both iOS and Android, features a “Get me to my nearest Safe Place now” panic button and voice activation.
Building a Safer Community Coordinator, Cirsty De Gruchy Moseley says support can be anything:
"It might be giving them reassurance and calling a friend, it could be someone with dementia who's got a bit disoriented, or a child who's got lost.
"It could just be that they need someone calling to come and pick them up."
