A former Guernsey Chief Minister has been remanded in custody after appearing in court.
Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq has been charged with offences relating to the misuse of telecommunications, indecent images of children and extreme pornography.
Island FM understands this investigation is not linked to any other ongoing police or court cases.
The 61-year-old was arrested on 21 July 2025 and appeared in court this afternoon (22 August).
The senior politician has not taken part in any government meetings since his arrest, with Policy & Resources now saying it is 'clearly' not possible for Deputy Le Tocq to carry out 'any work' on, or on behalf of, the Committee.
"Our thoughts are with anyone affected by today’s news that Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq has been charged with a number of offences and remanded in custody following a court appearance.
"Our focus is purely on ensuring P&R has the political capacity of five members to deliver its extensive responsibilities."
In its statement, P&R announces it will bring a proposition to the States and cites under Rule 37(8) that their work would be 'unreasonably hindered' by Deputy Le Tocq's continued membership, seeking his removal from the Committee.
"Rule 37(8) of the States’ Rules of Procedure states that if “the voting members of a Committee believe that the continued membership of that Committee by one member is unreasonably hindering the ability of the Committee to fulfil its mandate” then it may bring a proposition to the States seeking their removal from the Committee."
