DFDS cancels Portsmouth sailings after Tarifa Jet incident

DFDS has cancelled sailings to Portsmouth and revised its timetable for the coming days following an incident involving Tarifa Jet on Sunday evening.

The ferry operator confirmed that Stena Vinga will instead operate the St Malo route on Tuesday 31 March, departing St Helier at 6.30am and returning from St Malo at 12 noon local time.

However, the vessel will remain in Jersey overnight after arriving from Portsmouth, meaning tonight’s scheduled sailing to Portsmouth and tomorrow morning’s return crossing have both been cancelled.

The disruption comes just ahead of the busy Easter period, with DFDS acknowledging that passengers are likely to be concerned about their travel plans.

In a statement, the company said it is working on contingency arrangements to maintain services, including efforts to source an additional relief vessel to support operations over the Easter holidays.

DFDS added that a further update on sailings for the Easter weekend will be provided as soon as possible.

Passengers are being advised to check the latest updates before travelling.
