First Images Of Jersey's Overdale Acute Hospital

For the first time, people in Jersey can see concept art for what the Acute Hospital at Overdale could look like.

The images are being shared with islanders to 'show the progress that is being made'.

It comes ahead of more detailed proposals in May, when islanders will be asked to say what they think of them, before a planning application is submitted later this year.

Building work - which will include an emergency department, maternity unit, operating theatres and inpatient wards, is due to start next year and be completed in 2028.

The acute hospital is set to cost around £700 million, while the whole healthcare facilities project, it is estimated, will top £1 billion.

As part of the work towards delivering new healthcare facilities in Jersey, meetings are taking place with 'key stakeholders' - including nearby residents - to gather feedback on early proposals.

Their ideas and suggestions will help to inform the next stage of the building's design.

Health Minister Deputy Tom Binet says he wants to involve those affected by the proposals as much as possible.

"We are making very good progress with the development of the Acute Hospital, which I hope islanders will see reflected in the concept designs we are sharing at this stage.

I favour a transparent approach with islanders, and I hope that by sharing the designs at this stage means that our community can get a good sense of the fantastic new facility that is being developed.

I look forward to presenting the scheme to islanders in much more detail in the coming months when we will be going out to public consultation.

In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone for their understanding as we carry out the very important work of engaging with key stakeholders. to ensure we are getting the concept design correct."

Interested parties who think they should be consulted with at this stage are asked to contact the Programme team.
