Flood warnings in place for next 24 hours

Heavy and persistent rain is forecast in the Channel Islands this afternoon and overnight.

There is a risk of localised flooding in Jersey this evening and into tomorrow, as persistent and heavy rainfall is expected for at least the next 24 hours.

Infrastructure and Environment, along with the Police and Fire Service, have issued a warning ahead of the weather, which could cause travel disruption and danger on the roads.

After the eighth wettest January on record, another 25mm of rain is expected tonight.

Islanders are advised to avoid driving through flooded roads, check for blocked drains around their property, stay informed via local news and Jersey Met weather updates, and allow extra time for journeys.

We're told that teams from Infrastructure and Environment are checking gulleys and will keep a close eye on the forecast.
