Islanders have the chance to learn how to 'Restart a Heart' using CPR and defibrillation techniques at Charing Cross.
Health and Ambulance Service staff are teaching passers-by in St Helier life-saving skills to raise awareness about the importance of first responders.
Statistics show that only one in 25 victims of cardiac arrest is likely to survive without CPR, whereas this increases to a quarter of casualties when people step in and help.
It also takes just three minutes before brain damage can commence after a heart stops beating. Chest compressions can help the blood flow to the brain.
Katie Campbell, Clinical Tutor for the States of Jersey Ambulance Service, says early CPR and defibrillation can double the chances of survival for someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest.
"It is important as many people as possible know what to do in an emergency.
"Restart a Heart Day is a brilliant initiative that spreads awareness and builds confidence to do the right thing in an emergency."
A stall is up near the Crapaud statue today (16 October 2025), between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm, for members of the public to try their hand at the life-saving technique and to get to grips with a defibrillator.
There is another second change to learn the techniques on Brook Street (opposite Voisins)
NAPA Medical Jersey, Normandy Rescue, Independent Training and Medical Supplies and the Jersey Heart Support Group will be doing demonstrations between 10.30am and 2.30pm.
Islanders can also use their Alexa to guide them through CPR by saying 'Alexa, teach me CPR' and it will talk you through the steps to do chest compressions.
