A gene mutation means that three-year-old Amelia Seren is blind and has developmental delays that include limited mobility.
But she is working hard at physiotherapy in Jersey.
Mum, Vicky, says, "She works really really hard, she has a great physio team around her and she is making progress, she's moving forward. We try to support her and do the practices at home, but obviously, life gets in the way sometimes.
"She can feed herself and drink from her cup but when it comes to communicating and moving around, she's a little bit stuck at the moment."
To help her further, her family is fundraising to get Amelia on a three-week intensive therapy course at NAPA London, with the hopes of eventually helping her to walk. Vicky explained why:
"It will be for three weeks, for three hours a day. This type of therapy is so intensive and repetitive that progress should then speed up for her and give her a good push to get her moving independently."
The family heads there on 7 September - something they say they've worked 'so hard to make possible'.
They say it's a huge commitment for their family financially, with time away from work, and from Amelia’s older brother and sister, but that giving her every opportunity to succeed is worth it.
A fancy dress football match in Jersey last weekend made £3,043 on the day, taking the total raised on the JustGiving page to over £9,000 - smashing the original £5,000 target.
Family and friends will also be in relay teams for the Jersey Marathon in October, including Amelia's older sister and her school friends.
Vicky says they want to get her on further courses:
"With her condition, we don't really know what she is and isn't going to be capable of. We're just going to keep having high expectations for her and assuming that, at some point, she will be able to do everything and keep pushing her in that direction.
"At the NAPA centre, they also do speech and language therapy as well, so at some point we might move forward with that."
