Ports of Jersey has been given planning approval to remove part of the Gorey Pier landing stage.
Jersey Demolition Contractors have been appointed to carry out the project, which begins next month (April 2026).
First, the concrete deck will be removed, followed by the supporting pillars.
Afterwards, temporary bracing will be installed from the lower deck to create stability.
It is part of Ports of Jersey's work to strengthen the Grade-I listed pier's structure.

Captain William Sadler, Jersey Harbour Master, says:
"This is an important first step in a wider programme to protect Gorey Pier’s long-term structural integrity and preserve its heritage for the future."
Doc Snook, Director of Operations at Jersey Demolition Contractors, says the team are proud to be appointed as POJ’s partner to deliver this demolition project.
"We look forward to delivering these technical civils and demolition works for the Gorey Harbour and key stakeholders."
To ensure public safety, the pier head will be closed throughout the demolition.
The work is set to be completed before the summer holidays.
