Government attempts to reframe Havre des Pas Lido proposal ahead of debate

Jersey's Infrastructure Department is attempting to reframe a debate on the future of the Havre des Pas Lido.

A proposal brought by Deputy David Warr is due before the States Assembly next week, which seeks to reverse the government's decision to appoint First Point, a private management company, to oversee the outdoor bathing pool.

The backbencher supports the 'Love Our Lido' group, which aims to become a charity, to run the bathing pool and its facilities.

He previously suggested that £170,000 be given to the group to help with the Lido's upkeep.

Infrastructure Minister, Constable Andy Jehan, hopes to change the working of what is being voted on, so a review can be concluded before politicians make a decision.

An independent review of the tender process has a deadline of Christmas Day.
