Government to run AquaSplash

AquaSplash

AquaSplash's management is being handed over to the Government of Jersey.

The pool will fall under part of the Active programme, meaning Serco (Jersey) Ltd. will be handing over the reins from October 2026.

The decision follows a review into how efficiently the pool is run, with Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan saying buying the leisure facility will actually save the government money.

"I am pleased to welcome AquaSplash into the family of our Government of Jersey Sport facilities from next October.

"This change will deliver better value for taxpayers and ensure that the AquaSplash can continue to operate as normal and serve the public."

Active already runs four other swimming pools across Jersey

A spokesperson for Serco says they are disappointed to be leaving AquaSplash after almost 25 successful years in Jersey.

"[We] fully understand the need for the Government of Jersey to deliver operational efficiencies in its leisure facilities.

"We are very proud of our achievements over this time in improving the health and well-being of the local communities and will continue to work in partnership with GoJ for a smooth transition in 2026."

The government acknowledges this will be worrying news for AquaSplash staff.

However, they will be offered roles with the team at Active.

Constable Andy Jehan says:

"The process will be established as a matter of priority, but we will look to offer existing employees the opportunity to join us if that's what they want to do."
