Peter Wright has finished his seven ironman triathlons in seven days.
The 52 year old adventurer completed what he called the 'Island Man' challenge at around midnight, having swum, cycled and run a total of 984 miles this week.
Everyday since last Friday, Pete has jumped in the pool at around 6am for a 2.4 mile swim, then cycled 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles - sometimes getting to bed after 1am only to set the alarm to it all over again.
Peter, who is CEO of Prosperity 24/7, set out to raise money for four local charities that support young people - CLIC Sargent, Kezia’s Fund, Lily’s Fund and The LouLou Sporting Foundation.
Just as he was flagging on Thursday (day 7 of the challenge) he received some morale-boosting video messages from quadruple amputee Lily McGarry and the famous Ironman announcer Paul Kaye.
After a few hours sleep, Peter told Channel 103 this morning:
"I am a bit croaky and I have got a blocked ear... very tired, but I am just overwhelmed by the level of support I have received over the week from people in our wonderful community. It is so uplifting.
"I am chuffed to bits that so much has been raised for charity so far, and I just really, really, really want to keep pushing that fundraising total as far as I can for the benefit of the four wonderful charities that have been nominated."
