Donations and crowdfunding efforts have created an accessible outdoor space for Jersey Cheshire Home.
The redevelopment has transformed the outdoor area into a safe, fully-accessible and welcoming environment for residents, families and visitors.
There are shaded seating areas with new furniture, a pergola with heating and lighting for year-round use and raised planters designed to encourage residents to take part in gardening and outdoor hobbies.
The upgraded garden is the result of a three-year fundraising campaign that began with charity treks and the 2024 Summer Ball.

Jersey's Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Sir Jerry Kyd, who is also a Patron of Jersey Cheshire Home, opened the garden today (7 October).
Donna Abel, CEO of Jersey Cheshire Home, says it’s an important addition:
"It’s about the spaces that bring people together.
"This project has doubled the outdoor space available for residents and their families to enjoy. And this new garden is so much more than something beautiful to look at, it’s therapeutic.
"This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without four years of tireless fundraising efforts to raise over £93,000 with our Evening Gala events to two incredible treks, and, of course, the generosity of islanders who have donated so kindly to make this vision a reality."
Jersey Cheshire Home is a charity based in St Helier and is the only residential facility caring solely for adults with disabilities.
