Year 11 students in Jersey have achieved better GCSE results than their UK counterparts for another year running, with one school placing in the top 4% of schools in the country.

In Jersey, 9,321 pupils sat their GCSEs, Level 1s and Level 2s.

In addition to this, a very small number of students studied their IGCSEs, and five entries achieved a 100% pass rate.

Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, Deputy Rob Ward, congratulates all the students receiving their results today.

"This is an important milestone for you, and I want to recognise the effort, determination, and commitment you’ve shown to get to this point.

"I’d also like to thank teachers, support staff, parents, and carers, who all play a very important role in your journey.

"Whatever you choose to do next, I wish you the very best of luck and encourage you to seize the opportunities you are presented with."

However, there has been a dip in passes and top grades from the previous year.

Around 76% passed their GCSEs, a 2% dip from 2024, and 24% of children achieved the top grades of 9 to 7, compared to 28% the year before.

Jersey also impressed with A Level results day last week (14 August) with 'record-breaking' results.

Jersey College for Girls:

Kicking things off, Jersey College for Girls placed in the top 4% of schools for GCSE results across all schools in the Channel Islands and the UK.

60% of the grades achieved were in the top band of Grades 9 to 7, and almost every girl passed all of their GCSEs with a 99% pass rate.

Carl Howarth, Principal, says he and his team of teachers are so proud of the academic success of their students.

"Their work ethic, determination and intellectual aspiration, the care, ability and dedication of our staff and the love, support and encouragement of their parents, have ensured our brilliant young women have achieved brilliant GCSE results.

"More importantly, these young women are good, kind, caring, fearless and ambitious to make the world better.

"Such things cannot be reduced to a grade but are shown through character."

Victoria College:

Year 11s at Victoria College achieved a 95% pass rate, with 12% obtaining the top grades (9s).

The College has seen its highest percentage of grades 9 to 6, and the school placed in the top quarter of schools across the Channel Islands and the UK.

Headteacher, Dr Gareth Hughes, is proud of this group of young men and says the work put in over the last two years, and the progress seen in that time, has been genuinely impressive.

"Whilst I am pleased that a quarter of all grades were in the very top bracket of Grades 9 or 8, there are notable success stories across the range of academic outcomes, and so many of the students have outperformed their baseline expectations.

"We are excited to welcome many of the cohort back to join our Sixth Form in September, where they will be joined by external applicants from 11-16 Island schools and from overseas.

"We, of course, also wish those heading off to explore new opportunities all the very best for the future, and we thank them for all they have contributed to the Victoria College community."

Beaulieu Convent School:

More than 8 in 10 girls, part of this year's cohort of GCSE students at Beaulieu, passed at least five of their subjects, including English and Maths.

20% of the Year 11s at the convent school also achieved the top grades of 9 to 8.

Headteacher Matthew Bruke is delighted for his students and says their success is 'richly deserved' and reflects their commitment, resilience and determination throughout their studies.

"To achieve these results against the backdrop of 'record-breaking' A Level outcomes last week is truly special for our whole community.

"I am so proud of them all.

"Today is a moment to celebrate the partnership that makes Beaulieu such a unique and special community."

Le Rocquier School:

Pupils at Le Rocquier have achieved many outstanding successes, according to their Headteacher, Mr Andrew Adkin.

He says they have produced a 'pleasing' set of GCSE results.

"Our students showed tremendous resilience and determination towards their exams, and we are proud of each and every one of them.

"This cohort has shown all of the attributes our school aims to instil in young people during their 5 years with us, and they are now well prepared for their next steps in whatever they decide to do in the future.

"On behalf of the students, I would like to thank my colleagues and our parents/carers for supporting our amazing students throughout their GCSE and school journey.

"Today is an occasion for celebration, and we wish our Class of 2025 all the very best in their future endeavours."
