Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd is the new patron of Jersey Sport.
His Excellency is a keen sportsman himself, with a love of boxing.
He says getting more people active is vital to improving islanders' physical and mental health.
"Increasing participation in sport and physical activity is not only vital to increase the physical health of islanders, but important for their mental health too.
I hope by working together we can reduce the inequalities which are apparent amongst some sports and physical activity opportunities in Jersey and focus on building an inclusive local sporting community.” and that he hopes to work with Jersey Sport to reduce inequalities and build an inclusive sporting community."
Vice Admiral Kyd attended the primary schools Tag Rugby tournament this week as part of his patronage.
Jersey Sport was formed in 2017 to promote involvement in sport in the island.
