Philip Roy Delduca has been sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison by Jersey’s Royal Court.
The 54-year-old from Chester attempted to smuggle 112 grams of cocaine into the island in Kinder Eggs wrapped in clingfilm and blue latex gloves.
Delduca drove to Jersey with his stash, valued at £28,000, arriving by ferry from Poole accompanied by his elderly father.
When questioned by Jersey Customs and Immigration officers, Delduca said he was taking his father on a short fishing break.
Drug swabs from the inside of the 54-year-old's car and personal belongings proved positive for the Class A drug.
This led to a search, which discovered the cocaine hidden under the passenger seat carpet wrapped in a silver foil package.
Philip Delduca took immediate ownership of the drugs and told officers his father knew nothing about the importation.
Paul Le Monnier, Senior Manager for Borders at JCIS, says it has been a busy season for Jersey Customs and Immigration.
"Their hard work has resulted in a good number of commercial seizures of controlled drugs.
"The sentencing of this individual draws the investigation to a successful conclusion."
