A man who tried to bring cocaine into Jersey, hidden in a jar of instant coffee, has been sentenced by the Royal Court.
In March, Customs and Immigration Officers intercepted a parcel addressed to a property in St Brelade.
Inside was a coffee jar with 28 grams of the Class A drug concealed inside.
43 year old Matthew Bowman was arrested three days later. A search of the property he was renting revealed traces of cocaine.
During a later interview, Bowman admitted organising for the drug to be imported.
He said he had paid £1,000 for it in the UK. Jersey Customs & Immigration Service (JCIS) say it had an estimated street value of £7,000.
The 43-year-old has been ordered to do 480 hours of community service.
JCIS says the seizure demonstrates the level of control the officers have at all of Jersey's borders, including items arriving via the post.
"Today’s sentencing shows the risks that people are taking if they get involved in drug trafficking activity.
"JCIS will continue to target the movement of controlled drugs across our border and the conviction of those involved."
