George Howard Valentine (23) has been jailed for three and a half years for trying to bring cocaine and ketamine into Jersey.
Valentine, who is from Scarbrough in the UK, was caught with £11,300 of Class A and B drugs.
He arrived in Jersey in September 2023 as a foot passenger from Poole and told Customs and Immigration officers he was here to pay his respects to his dead grandmother.
The 23-year-old also mentioned that he was homeless and would be travelling on to Guernsey to meet with a potential employer in the construction industry.
His story raised suspicions with Jersey Customs and Immigration officers, who searched him and found 6.63 grams of cocaine and 119.77 grams of ketamine in a sunglasses case hidden in his underwear.

After the officers found his stash, he immediately admitted that the package was full of 'ket and coke', later saying he did it to clear a drug debt.
Paul Le Monnier, Senior Manager at JCIS, says this was an 'unsophisticated attempt to import controlled drugs' that was 'thwarted by the vigilance' of his officers.
