A 41-year-old man has been jailed for stealing from people's homes in Jersey.
Channing Tournerup was sentenced in the Royal Court today (26 August) after he pleaded guilty to three counts of larceny.
He's been jailed for two years and two months
Tournerup came to the island in March 2022 and began working for a company that cleaned empty properties.
While working at different places, he would steal personal items.
A homeowner complained to the police after she noticed some of her belongings missing and Tornerup was arrested the next day.
Initially, he pleaded not guilty to the charges - but changed his plea in June.
Although some of the stolen items were returned, not all of them have een recovered.
Detective Constable Juliette Morris called the offence a 'blatant breach of trust'.
"He was employed in good faith to carry out this work but clearly couldn’t resist helping himself to property that didn’t belong to him."
