Jersey needs at least 700 people to move to the island each year to 'maintain' the working population.
Latest population predictions estimate that, even if more than 400 people a year move to the island, the population will still shrink to 96,460 by 2080.
In this scenario, which Statistics Jersey reports is the most recent level of migration to the island, the population will increase until 2050, before falling.
More than 700 new islanders would be needed to 'maintain a stable working age population'.
However, this would also require more than 300 homes to be built each year, compared to just 170 homes for current levels of migration.
Even if islanders started to have more children and mortality rates were low, the island's population would only increase by 465 in 55 years.
Statistics Jersey reveals that under all migration scenarios, the number of children born and living in Jersey will decrease.
However, the population of people aged 65 and above will increase by 36% in 55 years if migration remains at a consistent level.
Latest figures show there are 52.4 dependants for every 100 people of working age; however, this is set to rise to 77.3 by 2080.
Statistics Jersey reports this is not unique to the current level of people moving to Jersey, but for all levels.
