A man who said he swam to Jersey from France, quoted Shakespeare and claimed be a British citizen named David Henry Law, will be deported.
The man was jailed for entering the island unlawfully in September 2024.
He'd been rescued at Rozel Bay, and had no identification.
Immigration officials say a 'detailed investigation' has established who he is, that he is not a British citizen, and that he has no right to reside here.
Jersey Customs and Immigration Service won't reveal any more about the man - citing privacy reasons - but say they're in talks with 'international authorities' about returning him 'to another jurisdiction'.
He remains detained at La Moye prison, having served the term of his custodial sentence.
