Young people and adults in Jersey are being encouraged to learn about the fundamentals of cooking.
The six-week programme called 'Food and Stuff', will teach 16 to 25-year-olds the basics of cooking.
It will start with knife skills, food safety, and how to pick food in the supermarket.
The students will then learn how to cook soups, curries and even fluffy pancakes for Valentine's Day.
Award Winning Chef Christian Gott, who will be mentoring the culinary cohort, says the course will increase in difficulty, but it will all still be very basic to build confidence.
"It's all things you can cook in one or two pans.
All sorts of stews, casseroles, with the aim at the end of it you can make a meal with a soup, a main and a pudding."
It is a joint initiative from the charity Caring Cooks and restaurant Samphire, in the hopes that it will equip the younger generation of adults with essential life skills.
Chef Gott says the charity wants to be able to give young people the opportunity to learn.
"Maybe they've been in care, maybe they've moved around a bit and haven't had too much opportunity, hopefully, they'll gain a bit of enthusiasm.
There's going to be a few quirky things, but it's to teach them some basic knife skills, what to look for in a supermarket and what to buy, and feeling confident in the kitchen."
