Police warn of joyriders as two vehicles are taken

Two vehicles have been taken by joyriders in Jersey in the past week.

Police are investigating the offences which occurred in St Saviour and St Helier.

They say,  in both cases, the vehicles were left unlocked with access to the keys.

In a social media post, Detective Chief Inspector Chris Beechey is appealing to islanders not to help the joyriders do it again.

"Whilst we are working hard to investigate, and have a developing idea as to who is responsible, let’s please not help them to commit any further offences. These crimes take up hours of police time and are entirely preventable.

Jersey is and feels safe, and that’s something of course that we all value. Please lock your vehicles, remove your keys, and keep valuables out of sight to avoid opportunistic crime."

Anyone who has seen anything suspicious that could help officers with their enquiries is asked to report it.
