Rhona Hewitt from Rhona's at the Beach cafe in Gorey has raised almost £50,000 for local charities from selling fish finger butties.
Over a period of nearly seven years, Rhona has donated all proceeds from her famous fish finger sandwiches to local charities.
Every year, Rhona picks a different local organisation to support. Over the years she has helped out Macmillan, Jersey Recovery College, Philip's Footprints, Healing Waves, Autism Jersey, Grace Trust and Motor Neurone Disease Association Jersey.
For 2025, the local legend has chosen to support Enable Jersey, which supports disabled islanders.
Her current fundraising total stands at £48,500, which she hopes will reach £50,000 by the end of the year.
Rhona tells us how she feels to be approaching the milestone fundraising target:
"It's fabulous really. When it gets to this stage, and you're so close to £50,000, it reminds you just how much of a huge amount of money it is.
"Hopefully it really benefits the charities.
"I do raise a lot of money but I can't do that without the community. They are always right behind me and I can't do it without them."
To reach the £50,000 goal, Rhona is continuing to sell her fish finger butties, but is also accepting donations of excess Christmas chocolate to sell on for the charity.
