RNLI Called To Drifting Yacht

Credit: RNLI Jersey

While many of us were watching the Women's World Cup final, St Helier's RNLI crew were on a four hour shout.

The all-weather lifeboat was launched yesterday morning (20 August) to a 10 metre long yacht that had lost power between the Paternosters and Les Dirouilles rocks off the  north coast.

The call came at 7.20am.

Light winds meant the yacht could not make way and was drifting with the tide.

The George Sullivan circumnavigated the island, arriving at the scene at 8.30am.

The RNLI crew for the casualty under tow and brought her back to St Helier at around midday.
