Sailor Pamela Lee races into Jersey

Irish solo sailor Pamela Lee is in Jersey this weekend on her Class 40 yacht as she prepares to take part in next year's prestigious Route du Rhum race.

The transatlantic single handed yacht race coves a total distance of 3542 miles.

It takes place every four years, with a course from St Malo to Guadeloupe.

Ferry firm DFDS has brought Pamela to the island, where she will meet members of the public and give sailing tips to Jersey's sea cadets.

She is due to arrive in St Helier this afternoon (5 September) in a race from St Malo against the Tarifa Jet.

On Saturday there is a drop-in event for the community to see her EmpowHer Class 40 racing yacht up close.  One hour slots can be booked here.

Chris Parker, DFDS's Jersey Route Director, said:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Pamela to Jersey and bring her incredible story to our community.

"Her journey reflects the spirit of adventure, empowerment, and sustainability that we share at DFDS."
