Scaffolding has gone up at Rouge Bouillon as part of a complex four-step plan towards getting the road reopened after Easter.
The building on the corner with Clarendon Road was left at risk of collapse because of a sink-hole in mid-December.
Contractor Jersey Demolition Company has taken over the site of 28 Clarendon Road to install steel strapping to secure the property.
Several adjacent walls and buildings are severely cracked and have moved significantly following the burst water main and the void under the street.

A four-step plan was devised three weeks ago in early February, of which the installation of steel strapping is the first part.

Step 1 - A Contractor working on behalf of the owner of 28 Clarendon Road will install steel strapping around the building.
Step 2 - The structural engineers, assisted by geotechnical engineers, will investigate soil conditions under the foundations
Step 3 - The external structures and boundary walls will be demolished
Step 4 - Rouge Bouillon will be re-opened once it has been determined that it is safe to do so

Rouge Bouillon continues to remain closed as the work continues, and other routes are affected, causing significant delays and disruption on the St Helier ring road.
