Island Energy says it expects St Saviour's Hill to open fully tomorrow evening, as work continues to repair a gas leak.
It says a member of the public called yesterday (28 October) to report a smell of gas on the hill.
A leak in the mains was found near the junction of Deloraine Road and Chasse Brunet, and engineers worked 'through the night' to make it safe.
It is expected that the work to repair the leak will be completed by tonight (29 October) and, after testing, refilling the road and setting tarmac, it is expected that St Saviour’s Hill will open tomorrow evening (30 October) fully.
It was expected this morning that the work could take five days, and the road also be closed for that time.

Island Energy says is working with the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service and the States of Jersey Police and Honorary Police while the road remains closed.
It has thanked motorists, pedestrians and residents for their understanding.
