Police say a taxi driver drove at a warden who asked him to move his car.
The silver taxi was in an unloading bay on the Parade on Monday afternoon when the parking control officer asked him to vacate it for a delivery lorry.
It happened between 1.30-1.45pm outside Lloyds Pharmacy.
It's claimed the taxi driver got abusive and tried to drive his car 'at speed' towards the warden.
No one was injured.
Officers want to speak to anyone who saw what happened, especially the Ferryspeed driver.
Anyone with information is asked to call police headquarters on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via the online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
