Jersey's government says it's actively considering the island's position and what to do next after the 'Homes for Ukraine' scheme was launched in the UK.
That allows Britons to bring Ukrainian refugees to safety - even if they have no ties to the UK.
Those who offer a home to a refugee or family of refugees for at least six months will get a 'thank-you' payment of £350 per month.
At the moment, family members of Ukrainian nationals can apply for a visa to seek refuge in Jersey.
Fewer than five have arrived so far, as of Friday 18 March.
"A further 10-15 arrivals are anticipated in the next fortnight, once visa applications have been processed by the Home Office.
Jersey officers are in touch with the UK to try to expedite this process as far as possible."
Another update on Jersey's response to the Ukraine crisis is expected later this week.
A team of government officers can be contacted to help with supporting Ukrainian nationals who come to Jersey:
- Telephone: 01534 441144 (8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm weekends)
- Email: ukraine@gov.je
- Website: gov.je/ukraine
The government wants to hear from families who can offer suitable accommodation to families fleeing the Ukrainian conflict.
Anyone who can help is asked to email externalrelations@gov.je
Donations can be made to the Bailiff's Ukraine appeal by:
- Cheque - payable to ‘The Bailiff’s Ukraine Appeal’ and sent to Royal Court House, Royal Square, St Helier, Jersey, JE1 1BA
- E-form on the government website – www.gov.je/appeal
- Donation to Side by Side in order to receive the tax benefit of charitable donations.
