WATCH: Jersey Scottish FC needs a permanent home

Jersey Scottish FC is 'in desperate need' of a permanent place for the club's 200 children to play.

The club is calling on sports clubs and Jersey's government to help find them a base.

They currently rent pitches for weekday trainings on an ad-hoc basis, and they use Haute Vallée school on Sundays.

With all the coaches and a number of the committee volunteering, pitch hire is their biggest cost.

Lead Coach James Scott says all sports clubs are struggling:

"We have sessions all over (the place), wherever we can get on and book a government facility.

"With the increasing cost of facilities, if we increase in size we will struggle to sustain that financially.

"Unfortunately, we are already having to turn youngsters away."

Jersey Scottish FC is aware that other clubs are also looking for homes and would be open to sharing a place with a team facing the same issue.

They bid for a tenancy at Le Creux Pavilion in St Brelade, which the government wants to retain a sports and community use, but have not been shortlisted.

With their bid unsuccessful, they are urging for the decision to be reconsidered, or for other teams that were unsuccessful to join forces in looking for grounds.
