A woman who tried to smuggle cocaine worth £14,000 into Jersey has been jailed for three years.
Lisa Danielle Ross, 39, from Ashford, arrived in the island on Friday 19 December 2025 on a flight from London.
She was stopped and questioned by Jersey Customs and Immigration officers, following a positive indication by the drugs detector dog.
Ross stated that she was in the Island for one night to visit a friend but was unable to provide the friend’s surname and stated that she believed they lived on a boat.
She later changed her story stating that her brother “Lewis” would be collecting her from the airport. Ross admitted to cocaine use following a positive swab taken from her belongings.
Jersey Customs and Immigration said Ross then became 'erratic and emotional' towards officers when a search of her began, and she was then arrested on suspicion of importing controlled drugs.
Whilst being placed into custody, she took out a small clingfilm wrapped package from her bra that she put in her mouth.
She had to be physically restrained by officers and spat out the package, which had 1.89g of cocaine in it.
Ross then produced another package with 54.39g of cocaine, which she had concealled internally.

Paul Le Monnier, Senior Manager at Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, said:
"This sentence reflects the serious nature of drug importation offences and the harm that controlled drugs cause within our community.
"The proactive approach of our Officers, supported by the drugs detector dog, prevented a substantial quantity of cocaine from reaching the streets of the Island.
"Those who seek to import controlled substances into Jersey should be under no illusion that they will be detected, prosecuted, and brought before the courts."
