Woman Shaves Head For Baby Loss Charity

Siobhan Bentley is shaving her head to raise money for Philip's Footprints and the Miscarriage Association after losing her baby, Pip.

A year ago, Siobhan and her partner discovered they were having a baby but sadly lost their child in the eighth week of gestation.

Around a quarter of women suffer miscarriages, but it is something Siobhan never thought would happen to her.

Since then, she has met many other people who have been through the same heartbreak and says she believes people shouldn't suffer in silence.

"Being able to talk about it almost normalises it.

"Unfortunately, loads of people go through this in their lifetime and, unfortunately, I was one of those people."

Siobhan had aimed to raise £1,000, so she could split the money 50:50 between the two charities.

She has already surpassed that goal.

Now, she is trying to raise as much money as possible for the causes.

Her determination to fundraise comes from the support she was given by the people around her when she was suffering from her loss.

The couple attended support group sessions with Philip's Footprint's Founder, Jo Nash.

"I thought 'I really want to be able to do something' to be able to help and support others, or just be able to speak out about the subject.

It's not a pleasant subject, and it's okay to not want to talk about things, but the main point of it is just being able to know that there are charities out there that are able to help out."

It is one of many events during Baby Loss Awareness Week.
