Meghan shares Harry birthday post - as children moved to new school over 'security concerns'

Meghan has shared family holiday photos in a birthday message to her husband - as the couple moved their children to a new school over security concerns, it is understood.

Meghan posted a birthday message for Harry on Instagram this morning as he turned 42, captioned: "He's simply the best. Happy birthday, my love".

The post includes snaps of the Duke of Sussex and Princess Lilibet on a skiing holiday and the couple embracing in a vineyard.

Archie, seven, and five-year-old Lilibet had only just begun the new school year after the family relocated from the US a little over two weeks ago.

Sky News understands they decided to change the choice of school for the children due to heavy traffic on the journey, and the distance travelled, putting pressure on the Sussexes' security team.

There is also believed to have been an incident that saw the couple's convoy of vehicles disrupted.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess said: "The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family's security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.

"The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family.

"This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there."

The location of the family's new home and details of the children's school have been kept private - but Meghan did share a glimpse at the Sussexes' new life in the UK over the weekend.

In a video post on Instagram, Harry, his wife and their two children could be seen enjoying a countryside walk, jumping in puddles, cycling and fishing.

In January 2020, Harry and Meghan announced they intended to step back as senior members of the royal family, become financially independent, and split their time between the UK and North America.

But the late Queen ruled at the Sandringham Summit, which was convened to resolve their status, that the couple could not be half in and half out - and the King recently said this agreement is still in place, meaning they will continue to no longer carry out official royal duties.

Just over a fortnight ago, the couple moved back to the UK, with Meghan rumoured to be returning to acting.

The school move comes after a reported meeting last week of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which is responsible for making decisions about royal security.

Harry is waiting to hear the conclusion of the Risk Management Board's threat assessment and Ravec is expected to decide at the meeting as to whether the Sussex family should be entitled to taxpayer-funded security now that they live in the UK.

Sky News also understands Meghan's security is getting its first government-backed review since the couple left the UK.
