CI Pride Interactive Livestream Planned

The acts for the pan-island Pride concert this Saturday (21 August) have been announced and people from both Jersey and Guernsey will be able to get involved.

Organisers of Channel Islands Pride are planning to make this weekend's concert interactive for people who are celebrating at home.

The event in Guernsey is open to the public but, due to coronavirus restrictions, those in Jersey won't be able to attend in-person.

The pan-island line-up includes Rainbow Chorus, Eloise Fabbri, Brick House, Rich Allo, Shea and Kingsy and Siren.

Christian May is Jersey's event director. He says anyone who can't get along to the Princess Royal gig will be able to get involved in other ways.

"We're sort of keeping a closed set [in Jersey] but we're going to try and make it as interactive as possible and we want them to take photos of themselves celebrating, share them with us on social media and use #CIPride2021. We'd like to zoom into some of those parties and get people to shoutout and show that they are celebrating Pride as well.

Pride really is a community experience and what we want people to do is celebrate equality and diversity and inclusion with their friends and family. So fly a rainbow flag, bring people together to celebrate and enjoy the local acts. But take the time to reflect on the fact that we do live in fantastically safe islands in communities that welcome people of different backgrounds, of different genders, sexualities and races. Really just try to embrace that and know that we will be back again next year with Guernsey for a much larger pan-island Channel Islands Pride festival."

Activities for the whole family will start from 1pm Saturday 21 August in Guernsey, with the concert kicking off at 6pm.

In Jersey, the live-stream will start at 3pm and run until 9pm.
