Remembrance Sunday in the Channel Islands

Today, the Channel Islands will join other nations in remembering those who have fallen in conflicts both throughout history and as recently as today.

In Jersey

At 10.45 am, the Band of the Island of Jersey will set off from Charing Cross, leading the march to the Cenotaph.

Wreaths will be laid at the Town Cenotaph, where a service will also take place, and the national two-minute silence will be observed at 11am.

Among those in attendance will be Jersey's Lieutenant Governor, Sir Jerry Kyd, who gave a heartfelt message to islanders earlier this week about the day's poignancy.

Roads around the Cenotaph in St Helier will be closed between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm.

Church rectors are leading acts of remembrance at each of the parish war memorials.

In St John, donations are welcome at the Parish Hall for a display of 1,500 handmade poppies, made and 'planted' by an anonymous couple.

In Guernsey

Guernsey's main ceremony is at the War Memorial in St Peter Port, and a silence will be observed at 11am.

A wreath-laying service will take place at White Rock at midday.

Sark's harbour entrance is adorned for Remembrance weekend with 400 handmade woollen poppies.

More than 50 volunteers from Guernsey have made the poppies with the finished arch display being crafted in Sark

Sark Conseiller John Guille will lay a wreath on behalf of the Bailiwick of Guernsey at the Cenotaph in London.

The duty rotates between officials from the three main islands.

Jersey will be represented by Chief Minister Senator Lyndon Farnham
