First Michelin star awarded in Guernsey in more than a decade

Vraic at Chouet has been awarded a Michelin star, just seven months after opening.

The couple behind the venture moved to the island in 2025 with the ambition to increase food tourism.

Nathan Davies has already earned a Michelin star for his restaurant SY23 in Aberystwyth and has now picked up another.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to receive a Michelin star for Vraic, it’s an incredible moment for our whole team.

"This recognition is a testament to the hard work everyone has put in, and to the support we’ve had
from our local producers and the wider Guernsey community since day one.

"Moving here to open the restaurant was a big decision for our family, but the warmth and welcome we’ve
received has been amazing.

"I hope this achievement helps shine a light on just how special this island really is.”

The Guernsey restaurant forages ingredients locally, with seaweed a recurring motif in its dishes.

Michelin describes Vraic as 'the very definition of a destination restaurant'.

On awarding the star, it calls it 'a stunningly located restaurant with cooking to match'.
