Beetons chip shop, along Pitronnerie Road in St Peter Port, is hoping to raise £1,500 to buy a life-saving device.
Beetons owners will put the money made from selling chippy teas between 5pm and 10.30pm tomorrow (11 January) towards buying a defibrillator.
Business owner Kim Ashplant says anything over the £1,500 needed for the heart restarting machine will be given to Guernsey Chest and Heart - a charity that provides free cardiovascular screenings and is entirely funded by donations.
She says her sister's cardiac arrest in September 2024 has promoted the move.
"Tina is only here basically because she had a defib very close to her at the time, and it saved her life.
"We've just come through Christmas and we were all sitting around the table thinking how lucky we were to be all together.
"It is only when something like this happens to your family that it brings it to the forefront."
