The official trailer for 'Control' - written and directed by Gene Fallaize - goes online tonight.
Gene Fallaize says whatever people may have been saying about Kevin Spacey, he considers him to be 'one of the greatest actors of our times.'
And consequently, in December 2022, Gene gave Kevin Spacey the role of the 'villain' in Control. It's about the Home Secretary, who is having an affair with the PM, and whose driver-less car is hijacked by Spacey, and becomes a potential weapon. Kevin isn't in shot, it's a voice-over role.
Gene Fallaize says his team did think carefully before approaching the actor, ahead of his recent trial at Southwark Crown Court, when he was cleared of the charges against him:
"It was a difficult decision, it was one we took our time on. But, he'd never been found guilty of anything in his life up until that point and it was an opportunity for us to be able work with someone we'd never normally be able to work with, with a budget of this level."
The film's become quite a talking point and is set for release in December. Overnight (01 August) it's been revealed that agents are now discussing UK and US deals and it will become Kevin Spacey's first role since his trial.
Gene is excited that the official trailer is now available:
"Up until now we've only had the theatrical trailer, which has been online for some months now. But it's nice to have some actual footage from the film that people can see."
