The Health Improvement Commission’s Breeze cycling initiative will launch this April.
A series of group bike rides will take place over four weeks this spring.
The Health Improvement Commission says the Breeze cycling initiative will help more women build confidence using their bikes on the roads and enjoy the benefits of being active outdoors.
Active Travel Officer Amy Woollaston says the trainers will give participants the skills, support, and encouragement they need to enjoy cycling, for commuting, fitness and fun.
"Research tells us that males are three times as likely to cycle than women on the roads
"When we go into gyms and settings like that, there are lots and lots of women doing spinning classes, so they're very fit, they're very active, but they're just not cycling on the roads as much.
"So it's giving them a safe space where they can practise skills and build confidence."
The programme begins on 8 April at 6:30pm at the KGV.
