Home of Guernsey Football celebrates its one year anniversary

Guernsey’s Victoria Park is celebrating its first anniversary with a weekend of football.

On 29 March 2025, Victoria Park opened its gates to Guernsey football fans.

The 600-seat stadium at Victoria Avenue is celebrating the year with games and events this weekend.

Today (28 March), the Green Lions will take on Peacehaven & Telscombe.

Every school across the Bailiwick received 50 free tickets for the match.

Tomorrow, (29 March) will see a Girls’ Football Festival and a junior Tournament.

Victoria Park Director Rob Jones has labelled the £10M project a success:

"38,000 people through the gates, it's extraordinary.

"The atmosphere and the structure of the stadium, you're much closer to the action than GFC were at Footes Lane, and crowd attendances for GFC, you know, they've gone up 250%, they're now regularly getting a thousand people through the door on a Saturday."

He says the 3G all-weather pitch has been well used.

"Being able to fulfil some of the fixtures that wouldn't have been played because of the horrendous weather we've had in January and February, we've kept the lights on on the local football scene."

Rob says the facility has supported more than football:

"It's about a community feel to the place.

"We've had 23 school matches down there, we've had charity events, raised some good money for bowel cancer, for Business Beats Cancer and also for our chosen charity this year, which is Guernsey Alzheimer's.

"We've had the girls' festivals, it's been phenomenal."
