Flights were disrupted for a time after a security breach where a man accessed the aerodrome at Guernsey airport.
He was intercepted by airport security staff this morning (11 October) before the terminal building had opened.
Guernsey Ports say he had accessed the aerodrome from the north side boundary.
He was arrested by police.
All airside areas and aircraft were checked before the airport could open.
It resulted in the early flight to Manchester being delayed by 21 minutes.
Richard Thomasson, Airport Director said:
“Guernsey Airport identified and intercepted a male member of the public who had gained unauthorised access to the aerodrome.
“Our aviation security arrangements resulted in the male being proactively challenged, detained and handed over to Guernsey Police for them to make further enquiries.
“The incident took place prior to aerodrome opening and was dealt with swiftly by our operational teams working closely and collaboratively with our airline partners.
Operational disruption was kept to a minimum through the activation of established and tested procedures.”
