Blue circles count down every 500 metres along the east coast commuter route.
Guernsey's Heath Improvement Commission, alongside company CMC Wellbeing, are making the cycle route more interactive.
It is used by islanders for commuting, and running or cycling for leisure and the total distance between Town and Richmond corner is 2.5km.
Now it is marked at 500 metre intervals with blue concentric circles so that users have an idea how far they have to go.
Alex Costen, Be Active Lead at the Heath Improvement Commission, says the idea follows 'Better Journey's Week' in May:
"We want to inform people already using the area for commuting, how far the distance is and hopefully motivate them to consider walking or cycling."
She says the initiative could be copied elsewhere:
‘We’ve coined this route the East Coast runway but there is real potential to expand the concept to other areas.’
