For the second time this year, Environment & Infrastructure is proposing an increase to bus fares.
The committee has suggested the standard daytime journey fare be increased by 25p.
It suggests this 20% rise would 'help to offset the increased cost of the bus contract caused by high inflation.'
This is the second time the committee has recommended an increase this year. The standard fares rose from a pound to £1.25 in February.
E&I is also proposing a number of other changes, including a 25% increase to PAYG journeys, a £7 increase to weekly passes and a £12 increase to week-long family passes.
The committee is also proposing the unlimited monthly pass be scrapped.
These would come into effect on 1st October 2023.
In other planned changes, over 65s will only be able to travel for free on the buses after 9.30am weekdays.
The concessions will still be available anytime at weekends and bank holidays (except night buses).
E&I says that will ensure buses running at peak times - were demand is high - are prioritised for fare-paying customers.
The committee also wants the concession to be aligned to the State pension age from January 2024. The pension age is currently increasing by two months every year.
Islanders have until 6 September to comment on the proposed changes.
