Water Bills To Rise

Guernsey Water is putting up its prices.

Bills will be rising this month by 1.34% for the average metered customer, and by 2.32% for households without a meter.

Utility bosses say the increased charges will fund ongoing investment in the island's infrastructure.

Charges for metered water will rise by 2 pence per cubic metre from £1.01 to £1.03, while the standing charge will go up by 24p to £14.66 per quarter.

Charges for metered wastewater will increase by 3 pence per cubic metre from £1.91 to £1.94, with standing charges rising to £25.15 per quarter.

In addition, unsubsidised cesspit emptying changes are rising by 33 pence per load - to £21.89.   The subsidised charge is being held at £7.32 while the sewerage network extension programme remains on hold.

“Everyone at Guernsey Water works hard to make our business as efficient as possible by managing costs carefully. This means that on average a metered domestic customer pays just £1.25 a day for our water and wastewater services."  - Steve Langlois, Guernsey Water MD.
