AquaSplash pricing announced when it becomes government-run

New membership packages have been created for Aquasplash as Jersey's government prepares to take over the swimming pool on the Waterfront.

From October, it will become an Active facility.

The change was announced last autumn after the taxpayer subsidy to management firm Serco Ltd rose to more than £1 million a year.

AquaSplash takeover to save taxpayers 'significant' sum

The government said it would save money by taking over the running of the pool itself.

Then Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan told Channel 103 it will lead to a 'significant saving', but no number was given as the time as officials worked on the details of the the transition and new operating model.

Constable Jehan said: "The fact that we run several swimming pools around the island will make it more efficient for us to bring it in-house."

With details published today of how much people will pay to use the facility after 1 October, we have asked again about the expected saving.

Under the new membership and pricing structure, we're told some customers will pay a little more, and others less.

Lane swimming will cheaper - £6.35 for adults and £3.60 for children on a pay-as-you-go basis, compared to the current £8.75 and £4.75.

The family flume session will remain £9.30 per person, with Active members being charged an extra £2 for the session.  The government says that is because of the higher lifeguard costs.

Full details of the pricing, including a Q&A covering children's swimming lessons, children's parties and information for current AquaSplash members moving to the Active membership can be found here.

The government says it is investing a quarter of a million pounds this year to upgrade AquaSplash, with the outdoor pool currently closed for maintenance.

"Further investment expected in 2027 to support service quality and secure the centre's long-term future."

Serco (Jersey) Ltd  has been running the pool since 2003.
