Jersey Bulls player Jarma Mohamed has been called up to the Somalia national team for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying fixtures against Ghana.
The first-team player, who joined the club this season, has made an impression since arriving at Springfield.
Though this won't be the first opportunity he has had to represent his country on the international stage, it is an historic moment for the island club as he becomes its first ever player to receive a full senior international call-up whilst representing Jersey Bulls.
The club's bosses have praised Jarma's attitude, commitment and professionalism, and say he sets a tremendous example to his teammates and young players coming through the academy.
Jersey Bulls manager Elliot Powell said:
“Delighted for Jarma to receive his call up as recognition for his hard work this season. It will be a proud moment for him pulling on his national badge once again and we look forward to supporting him from afar.”
Jersey Bulls Director Ian Horswell added:
“This is an incredibly proud moment for everyone associated with Jersey Bulls Football Club.
"For Jarma to become the first player in our club’s history to receive a full senior international call-up whilst representing Jersey Bulls is a fantastic achievement, both for him personally and for our football club.”
"We are an amateur football club with big ambitions, and seeing one of our players recognised on the international stage is another significant milestone in our journey.
"Jarma thoroughly deserves this opportunity, and everyone at Jersey Bulls will be cheering him on as he represents Somalia against Ghana. We couldn’t be prouder of him.”
